So many people walk around through this life unhappy and unfocused. They have bought into this idea that if they take a certain path in life, they’ll be happy. We believe that if you know what you want, you know what the world is about and you are a good friend to others, you will be happy in your life.

We find many people are going after some phantom dream of their future. They have no true grasp on how they are going to grab what they want. What we want you to do is define what is important to you and know that happiness is a choice. Also, we want you to figure out what will bring you the most happiness in life.

What if The Traditional Idea of Retirement Isn’t Right For You?

What if you investigated the true success rate of “retirement”. You’d see that the bright future of palm lined beaches may be for only a select few. At the current financial pace that most live their lives, that traditional idea of retirement isn’t a possibility.

It seems like many people have bought into the idea that if they can just get to retirement, they’ll be truly happy. What is it about retirement that is so alluring? For most, it is the freedom to go where they want and have the finances to do so. What if you could do that now?

Often times, people get so bogged down with having to know every detail before they make a decision. That keeps them from taking action and making the changes needed to be happy.

When you know others, you can work together harmoniously with synergy. Since working with and depending on others our connected world is inevitable, it turns out to be a really great thing.

With the power of the internet and other tech tools, we can do anything, from anywhere. The answer to any question is one good keyword search away. Good keyword searches come from knowing the root of what you want to ask.

It is not about an easy fix, it is about a shift in perspective and priority. It starts with your’s and your family’s happiness and abundance being the priority.

There is so much available in this world today. There are limitless connection opportunities, and because of that the options grow as fast as we can think them up.

What would happen if you knew that you could be Unstoppable? What if you know you could do it without having to save millions for retirement? Or that your affinity for cooking actually has a place somewhere in the world that may not be as “rough” as the movies and media play it out to be?

It started off as a way to re-group from the chaos we had just gone through in real estate investing. A deal turned bad meant we were in a financial position we never thought we’d be in.

“Let’s sell everything we have, put all our valuables in storage for 2 years and go traveling the world”, Brian Swan said after reading the book The 4-Hour Workweek.

“Are you nuts?, we have a new baby! This is my home, we may have lost all our savings and assets but at least I have a home”, I replied scornfully and walked off with Hanalei in my arms and a tear in my eye.

I knew we had to let this house go, but my ego was making me hold on.

“What would everyone say”? I thought.

“How can I face my friends, family and even more importantly my baby, Hanalei that was 1 year old”?

The Universe Changed My Perfect Planning

I made a vow to her that I would never put her in daycare, and planned her birth out with a perfect plan. I decided to:

Leave my corporate Job
Start my own business
Start investing in real estate
Have a baby
Retire our parents and live happily ever after.

How did it all go so wrong?

Then I realized something….

Is it all going so wrong or is this how it should be? Was the Universe giving us a sign and a way to live out the dreams we have always talked about, just in a whole different way than we could ever imagine?

Hanalei’s Traveling Journey Began

We took that as a sign, and on November 25th, 2008 we shipped off to start what we called “The Swan’s Endless Summer Journey”, with no real end in sight or a vision of what we were really doing, but we were doing it.

With a new baby in tow, 8 huge pieces of luggage, 2 surfboards and our computers we were ready to turn lemons into lemonade and become The UNSTOPPABLE FAMILY.

The 2 years came and left so quickly we couldn’t even believe the time had passed. We dropped the idea of ever moving back to the States. Hanalei was learning more while traveling than we could have ever imagined.

Places We’ve Traveled

Our family hit the ground running with our travels and we haven’t looked back. Here’s a quick run down of where we’ve lived.

Hawaii, then Mexico, then Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Australia, Bali, Fiji, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Panama, Peru, Brazil, back to Panama, Took a year to travel the USA, Germany, Mainland Spain, Canary Islands, Morrocco, and back to Bali, where we are calling home today.

Not only have we lived in these places, we have to take shorter trips to other destinations. Hanalei always wanted to go to France, and we gifted that to her for a good year in school. She absolutely loved it!

All of these experiences have been a part of who she has become as an artist and designer. If we had followed my perfect plan, we wouldn’t have landed here.

She’s Always Been an Artist

From the time Hanalei was 3, she’s been doodling and drawing. We had no idea how her passions would evolve as time went on. She’s always had an art book and space to do the painting and sketching she wanted.

As her parents, we’ve always taken the position that we’d encourage her to do the things she loves. This is why I never wanted her in daycare. I want to be here to see her passions and give her the space to develop them.

Hanalei Was Discovered By a Designer

We were blown away when Hanalei was discovered by a designer in LA. She showed us that Hanalei’s skills were really amazing. She was producing high-quality fashion design work and we didn’t know it!

First Prototypes

It was pretty disappointing when Hanalei’s first prototypes came back and they weren’t right. Her mentor, Karen Keith, has guided her through this journey and we have been so happy to have her. In fact, Karen moved her workshop in our team house in Bali so that Hanalei could have her prototypes made the right way.

Her First Fashion Show

What a great honor it was to have Karen Keith debut Hanalei’s prototype to her first fashion show. It was such a great time for her and a learning experience. This is exactly the kind of thing that we do to help her grow her talents.

Limited Edition Custom Boot Collection

Hanalei has recently released her custom book collection to the public. In fact, she was ecstatic to sell her first pair. So many people have been supportive of her collection, not just because she’s young, but because the products she creates are quality.

All the clothing is earth conscious materials and vegan-friendly. She is using mushroom and pineapple leather for some of her collections. It is important to her to not only empower her customers through the way they feel but to be kind to our world.

What’s Coming in 2018

There are many great things to come in 2018. Hanalei is working hard to make it to Fashion Week this coming year. If she gets there, she’ll showcase her best designs from H.S. Styles.

Also, she has been working on an art masterclass to share with other kids who want to learn how to draw. We believe that no one is too young to teach others how to do something new. She’s very excited to see other kids develop their skills.

Hanalei’s Fashion Mentor

We’ve been so excited to have Karen Keith on board to help Hanalei get her fashion concepts created. We actually had to take a step back a few months ago, because we sent her designs away and they didn’t come back like we had hoped.

That’s when Karen decided we needed to do a reset. We are now going to have our own in house team that is going to help take Hanalei’s designs and make them a reality.

How Does The Designing Process Work?

I asked Karen to share with us how this entire designing pattern works. Since I’ve never been in the fashion industry, I knew we needed someone that is experienced here. In fact, I always take the position that you should be laser focused on what you know how to do so you can excel at it. Then you bring in others that are skilled at what they do.

Here’s where the designing process starts:

1. Starts With a Mistake

I really loved what she said here. She said that every designer starts with a mistake. They create what they think they want and usually, it doesn’t work out. This is where they can learn what actually needs to be done to make it great.

That’s exactly how it is with everything in life. If you don’t let yourself make mistakes, then you won’t be able to get to the next step. Just try things and see what happens.

2. Back to the Drawing Board

Every designer goes through the failure process. Some of them go through this process many times before they get a product that’s right. It’s ok, because it’s an important part of the process.

Hanalei has already been through this phase. I won’t lie, it was a bit discouraging to her, and us! We didn’t know what needed to be done, which is why we’ve been so thankful that Karen moved her studio into our team’s house.

3. Make Prototypes

Karen and Hanalei have chosen the best material to make their prototypes out of. As part of the designing process, you have to take the sketched design and turn it into a pattern. After that, they will physically make the pattern before using the finished material.

4. Finalize the Design

After they get done with the prototypes, they will finalize the design. They’ll see what small changes need to be made so that they can produce the final product.

Hanalei’s Message For Her First Collection

I’m so proud of my amazing young lady. Her courage to go after the things she is so deeply passionate about is inspiring. What I love so much is her message for her first collection.

Here’s her message to the world is-

I want to show women that they are beautiful. I want them to know that a dress can make you feel different….it can make you feel amazing.

Her goal is to make it to Fashion Week in 2018. With her hard working attitude, I know she can do it.

Her Message to Freedom-preneurs of All Ages

I want to leave you with these final thoughts from Hanalei. Here’s her message to Freedom-preneurs of all ages.

Find your passion. Do what you love. There will be failures and there will be successes. No matter what’s going to happen, if you really love what you do, you’ll stick with it. You’ll be able to go through all the junk so that you can change lives.

My girl, Hanalei, is crushing it with Facebook Live! I’ve had parents concern themselves with her being on Facebook live and in the public eye. They’ve asked me what the pro’s and con’s for their child doing it.

This is my take on kids doing Facebook live: all pro’s!

Encouraging a child (not teach them) to speak in public, or on video is one of the sure fire ways to raise a child with self confidence. And it helps them develop self worth.

Your child needs a platform where they can articulate their feelings and express their ideas. I’ve chosen to let Hanalei share her ideas with the public. She’s a talented artist that has many great things to share with others.

Other pro’s to letting children be on lives.

In addition to giving your child a platform to share their passions and the confidence it brings, I also think these are other pro’s-

Show others what it looks like to be a united family. I love interviewing her on my lives.
Inspire children to go after their dreams by other real life kids. We know that our kids consume a lot of media, why not make it positive?
It teaches them a valuable skill. Let’s face it, we all need to know how to market ourselves. It’s never too early to start.
They’ll learn what’s appropriate to share on video. Since this is a normal part of our lives, Hanalei has boundaries established with what she talks about and does on camera.

To me, giving my daughter the opportunity to grow herself in this way has been such an important part of her development.

Since Hanalei was born she has been on video.

We now have a log of YouTube video’s from the start of her life traveling to her finding her passions. She’s been finding her voice and learning that she says can inspire someone else. I can’t wait for her to be able to look back and see how far she’s come.

Keeping kids safe is important, but shouldn’t stop you.

We understand that there are weirdo’s in the world, so we don’t hide this from Hanalei. We talk about it as a family. We’ve share real stories that have happened to children that have reached out to people they don’t know on the internet. As creepy as it sounds, this is the best way for them to understand how to protect themselves from harm.

People disagree with how much I share with Hanalei.

Some say it’s too much information for them at a young age, I say you cannot share with them enough. When parents hold things back to protect their age, they are setting themselves up for failure because they’re smart…and kids talk.

Instead of burying our heads in the sand and pretending like something won’t happen, we prepare her for the worst case scenario. We can’t protect her forever, which is why we have chosen to equip her. In my opinion, this is a much better approach than keeping her ignorant.

Technical Aspects Of How to Start a Blog

There are several technical aspects that you will need to get your blog started. Don’t worry. This is much easier than you realize. Besides, it isn’t as expensive as you might think. For the price of a cup of Starbuck’s coffee, you can get your blog rolling.

These are the things you will need to do-

1. Get Web Hosting

Think of web hosting as a place where your content lives- like a house. It’s like working in a Word document or Google drive. There’s a place where your words stay that you can access.

I’ve done a lot of research to pick the best hosting company, and Bluehost is the best choice. Many bloggers, both big and small, use this company. They have fast load speeds as well as great support.

2. Choose a Domain Name

The domain name is your website address, like unstoppablefamily.com. I also own unstoppablemomma.com.

This is where a brainstorm session is important. Whatever URL you chose is what people will use to find you. Make sure that it is easy to remember and identifies with the brand you want to create.

Once you have a few ideas, you’ll need to search and find if the URL is available. I’d suggest you buy your domain name with Bluehost. In fact, the often run specials where you get the URL free for the first year.

Don’t get discouraged if your name is not available. Just keep brainstorming until you figure out something that you can get.

3. Install WordPress

After you have a hosting company and a domain name, you are ready to set up WordPress on your account. Check out this great tutorial that I found. It shows you step by step how to do this process.

4. Choose a WordPress Theme

You can choose from literally thousands of different free WordPress themes. Any one of these can be installed on your website and customized to go with your branding.

The best way to find a good theme is to run a few Google searches. You can type in keywords like-

You’ll find many articles that have a quick blurb about the features of each theme. These themes can be installed on your website and you can do a live preview of the functionalities. You will even be able to make adjustments to see how it would look with your colors and logo.

5. Install Your Theme

I’d recommend that you choose a few different themes that you like. Then, you will need to install them all on your blog so you can do a live preview. If you don’t like the way it looks, you don’t have to save it and publish it. When you back out, the changes will be lost, allowing you to try something else.

Here’s how to upload a theme-

Go to The Dashboard and Select Appearance

The dashboard of your website is the page that comes up when you login. This is the backend of your website, where you can make changes to the the design, add pages, add posts, and more.

Once you are there, look on the left hand sidebar for “appearance”. Hover over it so that the pop out menu displays. Select “themes”.

Add New Theme

Look at the top of the page and you will see a button that says “add new”. You can install your free, or paid for themes this way. There will be a way to search for the free themes on WordPress.

Find The Name You Are Looking For

If you like a theme you saw in a blog post, then search the name of it in the search bar. This will pull up all designs that match that name. You can also use the tabs and find suggested templates.

However, if you purchased something, you’ll need to download that to your computer and upload it to your website. Follow the instructions given to you when you buy the theme.

Make Your Customizations

Now that you have installed the design you want to test out, you can customize it. Go back to your dashboard and look for the “appearance” tab on the left hand side bar. Hover over it so the pop out menu can display. Select “themes”.

Once you are taken to the themes page, you will look for the button that says, “customize”. Your theme should be the first one in the top row.

When you click customize, it will allow you to make changes. You can upload your logo, change the layout, decide what displays on the sidebar and more.

Top Plugins to Install

A plugin is a program that you add to your website to enhance functionality. Some of our favorite plugins include-

Facebook Feed – keep people in the know of what’s going on on your social media page. This feed will display your recent posts.
Akismet Anti-Spam Filter – websites are often susceptible to spam. This plugin works just like a spam filter in your email.
Lightweight Social Icon – these social media icons can be hyperlinked with your specific pages and accounts.
Sassy Social Share – let your readers share your great wisdom on the social media platform of their choice.
Google Analytics Dashboard – Google analytics can be set up to show you exactly where traffic is coming from and what they are doing once they get there. This plugin will give you a quick overview on your dashboard without you having to login to your analytics account.

Capture Reader’s Email Address

Every blog needs a way to capture a reader’s email address. Otherwise, people visit your website and forget about you. Of course, we want to do this in a way that doesn’t seem salesy or cheesy.

In order to get your reader’s email address, you need to give them something they want in exchange for it. This is called a lead magnet. You put together a pdf, book, group, challenge, or something digital they will receive when they signup for it.

Here’s a few things we have done to grab address from our readers.

Other things I’ve used to capture leads is by offering free webinars. People love to get video training on concepts that are important to them.

To help you get started with your lead magnet, I want to give you my free eBook funnel. I use this funnel and bring in many leads a day with it.

Here’s another system you might want to check out. In fact, it’s the same system that is used by Starbucks and McDonalds.

Now You Need a Sales Funnel

Once you have a lead magnet and process in which you can capture your reader’s email address, you need a good sales funnel. A sales funnel takes your audience through a series of emails that help them understand who you are and what you can do for them.

Without a good sales funnel, your work will be done in vain. The reason many people that start a blog are not profitable, is because they don’t have the right funnels in place.

We have used different platforms over the years to create our funnels, but the one we use now is Clickfunnels. I have completely fallen in love with Russell Brunson’s Clickfunnels so much that I have put together my own funnel hacker team to help out my clients.

How to Actually Make Money Off Your Blog

Here’s what trips a lot of people up- the nuts and bolts of actually making money from their blog. They know it can be done, but just aren’t sure how. To best maximize your earnings, you should have several streams of income in place. Here’s a few you should do on your blog to start making money right away.

1. Sign Up to Be an Affiliate

Many companies offer an affiliate program where you can sign up to get a commission for every sale you make. I have a Share the Love program for my Business in a Box Members. These members receive an URL with a tracking code that is unique to them. That way, if someone clicks their link and makes a purchase, I pay them a part of the sale.

Affiliate sales is the number one way that I made money online before I created my own products. Developing products that convert well can take months, or even years. Affiliate sales lets you get started right away.

For example, here’s what my Business in a Box Members are selling.

I suggest that you look for high ticket items. It takes a lot of energy to sell anything, so why bother with low payouts. You’ll just end up spending a lot of time without a lot of return.

2. Install Google Ads

Putting Google ads on your sidebar or within your blog posts is great for passive income. You get paid for the number of visitors that come to your site. It is a small payout, but doesn’t take much to place the coding on your website.

Sign up here for a Google Adsense account after you have your website fully developed. They are not going to approve you for ads until you have a website to house it on.

3. Write Sponsored Guest Posts

Companies reach out to bloggers and social media influencers to talk about their products. Either, the company will give you a well written article that takes your blog focus into account, or you can write the article yourself in some cases.

Typically, you are paid based off of the amount of views you get on your website each month. The bigger your influence, the higher the payouts. Building your audience is the best thing you can do to increase your ability to earn.

4. Make Your Own Products

Now, the majority of my earnings come through my own products. I’ve been creating my own courses and coaching programs for the last 4 years. The community that I have in place has been growing out of control, which has meant I’ve had to become more organized and have greater systems in place.

It is my passion to help other Freedom-preneurs to break away from their 9-5 jobs and start living their perfect day every day.

Soulshine Bali

Micheal created Soulshine Bali to be a place where you can enjoy yourself, relax, and eat incredible organic food. There was such a great selection of things for us to choose from when we were there.

If you didn’t notice, there was a nice pool to cool off in while we were hanging out. It’s so hot here in Bali, you have to get cooled off.

There were a lot of places to the resort that we didn’t get a chance to film. People come here to practice yoga, host their events, and simply get away from the craziness of life.

Michael Gives Back

One thing we love about Michael is how he gives back to his community. There are two organizations that he supports here in Bali. First is the Bumi Sehat Natural Birthing Clinic. This clinic provides free maternity care for those in our area.

The other organization they support is the Green School, which is a place for K-12. They educate our future leaders. At this school, both Balinese children and those from around the world come to study. It combines the education between locals and foreigners.

It was a great day to be able to spend with him during the filming of our first episode.

We’re back! I’m so excited that we have had the chance to travel all over the U.S. over the last few weeks, but it’s so good to be home here in Bali.

This is a quick recap of where we’ve been for the past 7 weeks.

We were in Michigan for 3 weeks, Chicago for 2 days to Vegas for 3.5 weeks.

We visited family, Phish shows, Unstoppable Mastermind, photo shoots, film days, canyon hikes, Vegas strip, limos, Gordon Ramsay and cirque De Sole all rolled into one amazing close to the summer.

It’s been busy and fun. Even after traveling for nearly 9 years it always feels good to be back to a spot where I call home.

Great memories were made, but now it’s time to focus on closing this year out strong! Big stuff happening.

Here’s a look at what we’ve all been doing this week-

Hanalei is Back to School

We got back in Bali the day before Hanalei was due to start school. In fact, we told the school she wasn’t going to make it the first day, because of how late we would get in. My girl is dedicated though because she hopped out of bed despite the jet lag and went to school anyways.

Hanalei and I did a Facebook Live where she gave her wisdom of the day about how to handle being in new situations. She’s shared some insights that we should all take to heart.

Brian is Back to Surfing

Brian got out on the surf a few days this week. Oh boy was he struggling to get the motivation up to do it yesterday. But he did exactly what we teach in our Sexy Brand Building Course, and that is to just take action. Don’t let life overwhelm you, just get up and do something.

He’s happy to be back and able to push himself physically again. I think he got right back into the routine of things and is headed to Ulus today.

Rhonda is Back to Sexy Brand Building

Ok…so I didn’t completely stop sexy brand building while I was away, but I’m back to the day to day swing of thingsnow. Just last night, I met with my DIY Sexy Brand Building group.

These guys are working on their lead magnets now. Exciting things are definitely happening with the group. All of them should be ready to launch their courses and products in September. This is the perfect time to have product launches.

This past week has been incredible at the Red Rock in Vegas! We just wrapped up another Unstoppable Mastermind, where we invited out 5 Freedom-Preneurs to work on their brands. Of course, while we were in Vegas, we made sure to stop and have some fun.

Here’s a few of the fun things we did while we were there-

Stayed At The Red Rock Hotel

The Red Rock was such a gorgeous place to stay and do our event. The rooms were big and beautiful, which is right in line with how Vegas does things. We were able to use a meeting space that overlooked the incredible Red Rock Canyon. It made for a rocking atmosphere.

Took a Party Bus

Of course we have to ride in style everywhere we go. That’s why we had a party bus pick us up and drive us where we needed to go. These party buses were insane. You could stand up inside of the bus and dance or mingle around. We had so much fun inside the bus.

Rode Gondolas At The Venetian

On our opening night of the Mastermind, we took the group to ride on the gondolas outside of the Venetian. You can either ride on the indoor or outdoor boats. We opted to do the outdoor ride, which was perfect!

The group paired up and took their seats on this romantic ride. It made for such a great start to our week.

Walked Up The Red Rock Canyon

We took the group to hike up the Red Rock for a sunrise photo shoot. This is one of the reasons that we chose staying at the Red Rock Hotel. It made it easy for us to get up at the crack of dawn. I’m not kidding- I sent out a good morning message at 4am to the group to meet us downstairs.

The view of the sunrise coming across the rocks was absolutely gorgeous. Here’s an awesome picture of the three of us.

Ate At Gordon Ramsay Steakhouse in Vegas

After the event was over, we decided to hang out in town for some extra fun. It was a great way for our family to re-connect after having a crazy couple of weeks.

When I told Hanalei we were coming to the strip all she said was ,”All I want to do is go to the Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas.” This child has watched all his shows and has become bit of a foodie. When we surprised her with a reservation she was so excited!

Invested in Amazing Brands

While we had a ton of fun spending time in Vegas, we came there to invest in some incredible brands. You can check out all of these awesome Freedom-preneurs in the post I wrote over at Unstoppable Momma about the Vegas Mastermind.

The reason we host these events is to help our clients build their own brands. We started doing live events many years ago when we were affiliates. An affiliate is someone who gets a percentage of sales they make when they sell other people’s products.

Here was the breakdown- the companies weren’t teaching us to brand ourselves. Shoot, they were barely teaching us to be good representatives of their brand. That’s why I started hosting events with my team a few days ahead to give them the extra training they needed.

While I don’t know everything about your business- I know that these 10 mistakes can keep you from succeeding.

1. No Vision and No Why Behind Your Brand

If you don’t know what you want, or where you’re going, how can you create it? The first thing I teach in my Sexy Brand Building Formula is to get a clear understanding of your “why”. You will go back to your “why” again and again.

We all lose our focus along the way. Knowing exactly what we want out of life and what we are working towards will help us regain that focus.

2. No Marketing Plan

Not having a marketing plan, is like buying a new car, but not planning to put gas in it. Just because you have invested in the car, doesn’t mean it will run on its own. You must have a continual plan of how you are going to put gas in it and take care of maintenance.

You need to have an organic traffic plan as well as a paid marketing strategy. Both of these are required to get the leads you need to generate sales.

An organic traffic strategy involves-

SEO copywriting
Compelling ad copy
Proper link building
Consistent updating
Content strategies

A paid traffic strategy requires-

Knowing your target audience
Refining the ad until you get a winning combination
Regularly running campaigns

3. Not Selling or Promoting Consistently

“If you’re not selling, you’re not sold!” If you believe in your product and service, you’ll want to tell others because of the benefits THEY’LL gain. Consistency is absolute key. You need to show up regularly like you would any job.

When you aren’t consistent, then people forget about you. They end up buying from the next person standing in line that is selling what you are promoting.

4. Failing to Build Culture

The biggest attraction to buyers create a tribe and family that’s inclusive and supportive. People want to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Building an online community that takes care of one another is the best way to build loyalty.

5. Lack of Mental Diet

Daily Mind Feed is crucial to your success. Several years ago, we went on a media fast and we never turned back. Eliminating the negative things from this world and limiting our exposure to valuable information has been life changing.

We often listen to podcasts, ebooks, and go through training materials put on by people experts in their field. Not only do Brian and I do that for ourselves, but we lead Hanalei through the same process.

6. Part-Time Effort Expecting Full Time Results

Are you committed to your success or just blaming others? A lot of times, we see people that say they want to grow their business, but they aren’t willing to put in the time. They’ve got too much going on, and never get around to it.

It’s just an endless sea of excuses as to why they aren’t able to show up for their customers.

7. Not Setting Upfront Expectations

You need to give your customers a clear understanding of the services you provide and the expectations they should have. Let people know it’s going to be hard and take work to create a result or success in their business or your program but that struggle is worth the reward.

8. Doing It On Your Own

There’s no such thing as a self-made millionaire. We are led to believe there is, but it’s not true. You need a team, mentorship and a community to support you. We could not possibly run our business without a rockstar team.

9. Misinterpreting What Giving Value Means

If you are focusing on the features and benefits of your services and products, you will lose people. They want to know that you understand their problem and have the ability to guide them in solving it. Speak to how you can help people change their lives, tell your story.

10. Trying To Be Someone You’re Not

Just because someone else has been successful doing their business one way or another, doesn’t mean that you will also be. It is much better for you to be who you are. That is what your customers crave- the real you. Be a first rate version of yourself instead of a second rate version of someone else.

When Hanalei was 3 year old, we wrote a book about her going to Paris. She has always wanted to go to Paris. When she was 7, she was able to go to Paris. We gave her an incentive to work towards her goal of going to Paris. We told her if she could get all of her spelling words right throughout the year, we would reward her with the trip.

She had a chance to visit the Eiffel Tower, the Luv and walk the streets with a fashion designer. That is where her passion for designing her own clothing line was born. She spent so much of her time doodling dresses and exploring her ideas of fashion.

She Took Action to Start Her Fashion Line

When she met Karen Keith, her mentor, we realized that there really was something to her ideas and they needed to be followed.

We are now cultivating that emotion and feeling in her. If we don’t put energy in our children’s passions, we miss out on the opportunity to watch them grow.

Her collection will be coming out this year. When we believe in our kids and give them the help they need, they will amaze us beyond our imaginations.

She Is Aware Of Her Brand

I’m so proud of this little lady, her dedication to being a kid during the day then following her passions and turning into a designer at night is inspiring.

The other night..she was tired. It had been a long busy week. She was wrapping up end of the year work for school. She accepted an award at school and then off to meet her mentor, tailor and patternmaker for the fitting of the next 4 dresses in the collection.

Even at 10 years old we all have a lot to learn from her on dedication, passion and brand awareness.

She Knows What Her Target Audience Is Looking For

The first dress came out and she jumped up and went right to it. Immediately, she noticed things that weren’t quite right. She had a meeting with her mentor and they discover alterations were not made as instructed and the material isn’t working on the prototype.

Her fashion show is planned for August, but this is her brand and there’s no compromise. So she went back to the drawing board. She is determined to present a fashion line that will represent her brand.

Takeaway Lesson

Your brand is you. It is compiled of your reputation, your dedication, and your value.

Never compromise!
